From My Heart to Yours

by Debra R. Stacey

From My Heart to Yours contains 52 devotions written especially for those involved in the music ministry of the church, whether a singer, musician, worship leader, etc. by Debra R. Stacey, DDiv.

You will be inspired, challenged, and encouraged to be better for God and His people.

Here is a sample:

Psalm 150:1-6  Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Again, we have commands to praise the LORD, the Almighty God, Jehovah, our eternal God. Praise Him for everything He has done. Praise Him because He is a great, awesome, marvelous, fantastic, powerful, excellent God. He is the King. When you play, remember you are playing for the King of Kings. Walk up there with confidence. Don’t slump over. Sit at attention. Praise Him with the instruments. Pray before you play! Ask God to anoint you.

When I am concentrating hard on the music, playing the piano, following the chord charts or the notes, I send up a silent prayer, “Lord, I  praise You with the piano. Be blessed by my playing.” I can sing while I play, but can’t talk very well and play at the same time, that is why my prayer is silent.

I love the tightness we have in our musicians’ corner. We all feel it when the Holy Spirit is there with His anointing and we are right on, we are together, we are in one accord, we are worshipping with our instruments. We are in tune with the worship leader. Many times without anyone giving a signal, no pre-arranged cue, we all stop the music to let the voices ring out in a cappella worship. I get goose bumps writing this. It is a God thing. It has happened so many times. I love it! I love being in tune with God’s Spirit and anointing. It is my favorite place to be.

“Lord, help us to remember we are worshiping You when we play our instruments. Help us to add to the music. We need Your anointing to come over us. Help us to be sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit. Use our music to be a blessing. We give You the glory and honor for the talent You have given us.”
