Perhaps you have read this entire book and you are not yet born into the Kingdom of God. Let me remind you that holiness can come only after we are born again, or saved, or converted. No amount of morality or high personal standards can make you good enough to be accepted into God’s family. You cannot work your way into the family of God. You cannot buy your way into the family of God. You cannot join the family of God. You did not get into your earthly family because you were good. You did not work your way into your earthly family. You did not join your earthly family. You were born into it! You must be born into God’s family! HOW DOES THIS NEW BIRTH COME ABOUT? First We must be willing to admit we have sinned. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10, 23 Second We must realize that we are living under the condemnation of God and are headed for hell. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20:14 Third We must realize that God has made a way of escape for all people who want to be saved. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Fourth We must take definite action. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:30 Fifth Believe that God tells the truth and is not a liar. He hears and forgives! God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar... Romans 3:4 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 It is only after you have been justified, or born into God’s family that holiness can become a lifestyle with you. Holiness is spiritual purity, both inside and outside. To say we are holy when our life- style is lived in a way that contradicts God’s Word is a farce. To say we receive all the holiness we ever need by imputation is a gross error. To believe it does not matter how we dress, what our appearance, or habits consist of because God looks on the heart, is to be guilty of gross ignorance or gross rebellion, or both. Consider the following passages of scripture in this conclusion. THE EMPHASIS BY BOLD TYPE IS MINE. For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy... Leviticus 11:44Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:13-16And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. Leviticus 20:26Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Peter 1:10Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Hebrews 3:12 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 10:24-26Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1...O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: Nehemiah 1:5And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 3:22By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:2-3He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me... ...If a man love me, he will keep my words... John 14:21, 23He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:11, 14Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 |
