God says that all are sinners.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Because we are sinners there is a price to pay for sin.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14-15

But, because God loves you, He made a way of escape... He sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for sin.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

In order to obtain salvation, in other words, make Heaven your home and flee the fires of Hell, all He asks you to do is turn to Him and accept Him as your own personal Lord and Savior.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

Because we are lost without a Savior, we must...
Admit your need for a Savior
Be willing to turn (repent) from your sin
Believe that Jesus Christ is the one True God and He died for you on the cross
Through prayer, ask Jesus Christ to control your life, not just as your Savior, but the Lord of all your life

Here is a sample prayer:
Dear God in Heaven, I know that I am a sinner and need a Savior in order to obtain forgiveness.  I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for my sin.  I am willing to turn from sin.  I now ask Jesus Christ to come into my life to be the Lord of my life.  I am willing, by God's grace to follow and obey Christ as Lord of my life for the remainder of my days.  In the name of Jesus.

If you just prayed this prayer with an honest intent before God, this is just the beginning of a wonderful new life with Christ.  It's now important that you:

  • Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.  God has given us, not only the good news of the Gospel, but instructions concerning the future and what our attitude should be. II Timothy 2:15

  • Talk to God in prayer each day.  Prayer is not some sort of spiritual cop-out.  It is having fellowship with God.  Daily prayer will change your whole outlook towards life. Isaiah 40:31

  • Worship, fellowship and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.  Those who say you can serve God and not be faithful to Church are ignorant of Bible teachings. Hebrews 10:24-27  Make your life count.  Unite with others who are working to evangelize the world for Christ. Matthew 5:13-16

  • Be baptized in water by immersion like Christ was.  While baptism doesn't save us, we must follow the example of Christ and be baptized.  Matthew 3:13-15  When we read all of the verses about water baptism in the New Testament, you will see that baptism is to be by immersion and not by mere sprinkling.

  • Forsake the old sins that you used to commit and live a life of holiness as the Bible commands.  Ask God to help you to clean up your life.  If you continue to live as you did before you came to Christ, something is wrong.  There are many today who are teaching that all the holiness or righteousness we need to get to heaven is imparted to us when we accept Christ as Savior.  This is not true.  See the following scriptures:  I Corinthians 6:9-11; 11:4-16; II Corinthians 5:17; 6:14-18; 7:1; I Timothy 2:8-10; Hebrews 12:14; James 2:14-26; I Peter 1:13-17; Revelation 21:5-8

  • Tell others about Christ.  There is something about telling others that makes your faith more vibrant and alive.  Especially when you feel discouraged you need to witness to others. Revelation 12:11

  • Get prepared for an exciting life in Christ.  Following Christ will not automatically solve all of your problems.  In fact it may seem to cause more problems at first.  Some of your closest friends may misunderstand or forsake you at first, but if you will be faithful you will have the thrill of leading some of them to Christ.

We would love to hear from you if you have accepted Christ into your life today.  Please contact us at info@calvary-center.com.
